VFuels achieves new milestones at Angola’s Cabinda Refinery
Over the past few months, VFuels has recorded new milestones in the delivery of the 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) Cabinda Refinery Phase 1 in Angola.
Working with OEC Engenharia & Construção (OEC), the VFuels team was responsible for supervising the installation, staging of equipment, and interconnecting the piping for the modular skids of the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU).
Last year, VFuels transported the 30,000 bpd CDU from its fabrication facility in Houston to Cabinda, Angola, signifying the largest modular distillation unit ever fabricated by the company up to that point.
According to Cody Summerhays, VFuels' US Manager, VFuels has rapidly built a strong reputation as a reliable contractor for modular refineries in Africa after it successfully completed projects in Nigeria, Liberia, and Angola. Summerhays expressed his enthusiasm in assisting Angola with this significant project, which will enhance the country's refining capabilities and enhance its petroleum product supply.
The Angolan government has established ambitious goals for its downstream infrastructure, which entail the enlargement of the recently finished Luanda Refinery, as well as the establishment of new refineries in Cabinda (30,000 bpd), Soyo (100,000 bpd), and Lobito (200,000 bpd). The Cabinda Refinery is projected to be constructed in two stages, each with a capacity of 30,000 bpd, ultimately reaching a total capacity of 60,000 bpd when fully completed.
